UPF includes foods with ingredients we don’t normally use in home cooking, like ready meals, pot noodles, and sliced bread. Studies show that there is a link between UPF and poor health. Dr. Chris Tulleken used to work in humanitarian emergencies, and he saw the effects of UPF. According to him, there are studies about how big companies affect our health. UPF comes from factories, therefore it is cheap. It often has additives which we do not have in our kitchens.
Scientists link UPF to health problems due to high salt, fat, and sugar. Tulleken calls for better rules and independent health experts to help deal with these risks.
